It's pretty much an instrumentality/alternate universe that happens at the moment that Shinji chokes Asuka on the beach during EoE's last scene. This alternate universe, Shinji attempts to cater to Asuka's (the one in this world) needs more, can't remember exactly where within the series it starts. Meanwhile, the real Asuka (the one in the real world) keeps appearing in this alternate universe. Drama ensues. There's some hentai in it, but not very much. The end of Re-Take 4 has them back in the real world again.

So it's sort of like a retelling, but with a different twist. The writing and art is, IMO, on par with Sadamoto's.

You cross your eyes a little, relax them so that they actually focus on a point in front of the screen. Then you see the rows in 3d (i.e. Rei is in front of Asuka whose in front of Shinji whose in front of Kaworu).

As for the magic eye thing, like Ornette said you have to fiddle around with your focus and do weird things with your eyes, but once you figure it out the first time it's easy to do after that.

Methinks you're slightly off there: an "evangelist" is concerned with spreading the Gospel, but not in "converting" people in the sense that the word tends to convey. Although unfortunately the extremist "my way or the highway/you're all going to hell" members of Christendom are the ones most people think of when the word "evangelical" or any of its variants is used, that's not really what the word's meant to entail. If nothing else, if you read the original texts, Jesus never "converted" anybody.

The fact remains however that before people were playing Tekken, Toshiden, Crash, ect the Sonic and Mario games and systems, as well as the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were the top selling and most beloved titles at the time.
