I'm not sure on the original source, but the original image dealt with something about machine code and such. The guy had realized a vital connection between something or other. When Eva was aired in Japan, a contest took place where Japanese viewers had to draw an original Angel and send it to Gainax. The winner got his Angel drawn by one of the Gainax artists. Anyway that picture was first published in the March 1996 issue of Animage and it had the title "Eva Saishû Kessen" which translates to "last battle of Eva". Now because of this title Animage had to add a note that specified that the picture really had nothing to do with the actual end of the TV series (which by that point hadn't been screened yet).

The Angel was designed by Satou "Diemay" Daimei (Tokyo).

Diemay's AngelHis notes on his sketch are as follows:
* Angel's height: 100 m
* The Core is on its forehead.
* He calls its strange head-horn thing its "Charm Point".
* The 1st and 2nd arms contain "Deutron Rifles" which are "more powerful than the Positron Rifles of the Evas", according to Diemay.
* The 3rd and 4th arms have some kind of claws.

That pictures was never in the series or the movies, or anything else official, it was just a one off drawing by a Gainax artist for a guy who won a competition.

"Diemay" once posted to JAE. He just said (in Japanese) "It's just gossip around here? And they're all foreigners... this is under Japan.*, right? I don't feel like writing here. Bye." and he left.

#1 - I can't remember, to be honest. Inspired by an original posted at THAT BOARD, which had FGSFDS written on the Groundwork version of the same image. I just used some random forum opportunity to make the 'captioned screenshot' version. ("I say FGSFDS to thee!")
#2 - Silly retort to OMF busting on me for f-K. (Implication being that m-K is the "conspiracy".)
[BTW, #1 and #2 are both doctored. Can you tell how?]
#3 - OMF asked about the 'Doors of Guf' line in #21'. We can work with the "Doors of Guf" part, not so much the rest. As you can see, even Anno doesn't know what it means -- but we already knew that.
