Dammit
They can't stop with just one FE game. This game soooooo is like the Nintendo version of Shining Force. I love it, right now it owns my life.
I seriously love it, simple yet fun.
*cries*
This game better do good so that Nintendo hears my cries and releases all the other games out as well.

You could say that Shining Force plays alot like this game since this series came out first. But to answer your question, yes it does.

This game actually looks pretty good. I never played the originals when they came out, I can't believe I didn't since I'm in Japan so much, but I'm going out and buying the game tomorrow. My wife says I gotta go and buy it so that she can play it when we move and I'm doing all the work and she'll be bored just sitting around.

IT IS SO GOOD
So far it is well on its way to being the best strategy game I have ever played.
God I love Nintendo. Whenever I have lost faith in the gaming industry they are always there to pick me up and make me realize everything is not that bad.

From what I've seen, it's very similar to 6, only this time, it starts off with a tutorial mode (which is WAY less annoying than Advance Wars' tutorial). Also, I believe it's a lot easier than the older ones. But don't worry. From what I hear, the game is no walk in the park. It does get challenging.

Nintendo is also using this game as a market test. Sources at NOC have already confirmed that for me. If it does well, the future titles will be released here and we may see the previous games in a collection, but more likely, as remakes. Yes, I had this confirmed earlier today.
It's going to be the same with CustomRobo GC(Yes, I love this series. :crush: )

No, probably not. They were released way back for the NES and SNES. This was probably the only FE America will get. There may be a fan translated versions, my brother have fan translated versions of FF3 and FF5. They did a pretty good job. So I say either import the gmes and learn Japenese, or wait to see if Nintendo of America release the older FEs for the GBA. Or you can look for fan translated versions.

Bump!
I figured I wouldn't go and make a new Fire Emblem threasd if there was one already made.
FE10 is coming out for the Wii.
and it seems like two other FE games have come out since this thread had gone extinct.
From the three games I got the chance to play, I think my favorite character has to be Innes from FE8: The Sacred Stones. I usually hate archer type characters, but, man if he wasn't awesome.

That seems to be the cover art for the newest game in the series.
Sothe, along with a boat load of characters from FE9 seem to be returning.
Some of those characters appear to be: Ike, Shinon, Rolf, Elincia, Geoffrey, Zihawk and many more.

Also is FE like FF in the non-linear way?

The Fire Emblem games aren't officially numbered, but if they were, the GC one would be #9.

Even though I heard of "Fire Emblem" because of the appearances of Marth and Roy in "Super Smash Bros. Melee," I did not pay attention to the games released on the Game Boy Advance or the GameCube (I was at that time focusing my interest on other hobbies). It was not until a few weeks ago that I became interested in this series, and watched several videos on YouTube on some of the recent games.
Tell me, what makes this game different from "Final Fantasy Tactics," a game that uses a similar battle system as found in the "Fire Emblem" series?

The biggest difference is that Fire Emblem is a completely straight-forward game, whereas in Final Fantasy Tactics you can do as much grinding as you want before entering the next battle. This definately makes the FE games a lot more challenging. Weapons break after a while, characters die permenantly if defeated in battle, and there is only so much experience to go around due to the limited number of enemies in each battle, so you have to factor that into your strategy as well.

Not really. It only happens if you did not revive them in time. In Fire Emblem, once their HPs reach zero, they are gone for good.

FFT is more forgiving because you can always rescue them. In Fire Emblem, when a character unexpectedly dies (perhaps due to a critical hit from the enemy), then it's tough sh*t for you. You either have to continue the game without them or restart the battle.
Nash
February 24th, 2007, 09:36 AM
You have three turns to save someone in FFT, so no, not same difference.
FFT you can just have one person sweep the entire stage with minimal consequences. In FE you need to plan your attacks a little more carefully or else you will end up with a lot of casualities.
Plus, there are no creatable characters in FE, and also when you fight , you switch over to a nicely sprited 2D grid, unlike FFT.
Character portraits pop up when people talk, and you can also talk to comrades, enemy units, friendly locals in the area and fight in nearby arenas in FE. In FFT, it's mostly straight foward until the stage requirement is complete.

And that's what always got me. Once you play FFT then you're completely spoiled because you're under the assumption your characters will come back. Wrong assumption. I had to give up about halfway through once the battles got a lot harder.

Archers were easier to use in the handheld versions than the GC one, or it seemed so anyway. Except for the Paladins who could use bows, move, shoot, move.

He prolly wasn't the best archer unit in his game, but I used him regardless.
In those games, I think it is more fun using characters you like, regardless of their worth, then to just use characters who easily dominate.
I made Innes a bad arse archer.

I just got Fire Emblem Wii, but if you like challanges, you guys will be happy with the implement of hard mode, it's definately a lot harder that what I have ever played through other FE series I've played.
There's also an Easy mode for begginers, which is much tamer than your Hard and slightly more friendly than Normal mode.
They did an excellent job on this version in terms of bringing old people back to the series and also welcoming new people to the series / war simulation games.
Only on 2nd stage, but already enjoying it very much.
**Hard Mode is hard because the heroine can get one shotted so easily, placement/movement is very important on Hard mode a lot.

Well Mist cleric class allows her to use swords and staff. Which is nice, I wonder why she had her own sword if she couldn't wield it until she promoted but now when you promote you get the skill Sol.
