A great game, but I'm terrible at these ones where you have to level grind so much. Mainly because I don't feel like wandering around for hours until I go up a couple of levels. I think I really messed up because I think I'm almost done, but I'm no where near the level I should be to finish the game. so I can't do the next dungeon because its too damn tough.

I wish I had the patience to level grind.

Yes, I have both the first and second volume and will be buying the third when it releases. The games are much improved from the originals, but it's still "buy three games instead of buying the single game we could have made".

I'm playing some demos right now, actually; Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, The Darkness, and Resistance: Fall of Man. PSN ftw.

I'm in a very NES mood. Today I was playing Burger Time. It seems like lots of people disliked this game but I was always a fan. It's unique and pretty fun. This game takes skill and you can't get away with just plowing though. These are the toughest to make hamburgers EVER. It always appears that there aren't enough ingredients which adds lots of challenge to it too. Short game though with only 6 stages but it's no picnic.

Currently:

Just finished my 2nd run at Fire Emblem 7: The Blazing Sword (GBA) about a week ago, and started up both Fire Emblem 6: The Sword of Seals (GBA; Import) and Fire Emblem 8: The Sacred Stones (again) in something of a celebration. Once I complete these, I hope to finally jump to Fire Emblem 9: Path of Radiance (GC).

Beyond that, I'm still having a heck of a time playing Rainbow Six: Vegas (360) in "Realistic Mode" on multi-player once a week or so, and am ~ 1 1/2 hours into Super Metroid (SNES) after downloading it off of the Virtual Console.

Having a great time with them all.

You're not alone. I had to turn off everything that makes Bioshock cool to have it run at a decent frame rate on my PC. No shadows, no lighting effects, etc. Fortunately I asked Best Buy if I could swap it out for the 360 version and they let me do it. I'm quite happy with the 360 version, even tho I don't have keyboard and mouse support.

Last night I tried some LSD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LSD_(video_game)) for PS1.

Though I'm not sure I should use the word "playing", perhaps "experiencing" is the right word.

It's surprisingly engaging and atmospheric you feel you want to do so much... especially considering all you ever do is walk around and look at things... in a blocky PS1 3D world...

I'm also playing Dungeon Maker Hunting Ground (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeon_Maker:_Hunting_Ground) for PSP, it's great fun. There's nothing else I can think of where you're freely allowed to build and build with only the restraint of building materials and money and whether you can fight your way to the part of the dungeon you want to add to, no real time limits, no business management, nothing like that dragging you down. It's just *build your dungeon in such a way you'll attract the monsters you need for a quest*, *defeat the monsters* *do the next quests*. Simple. I like it very much. The game's quite cheap too. I'm building my 5th floor now...

Guilty Gear DS - I'm trying to like this game, I really am, but nothing is coming up. Compared to other fighting games I've played in this style (Super Smash Bros, Jump Super/Ultimate Stars), this game falls very short. The controls don't feel natural and having to keep track of both screens at once is annoying. Glad I only payed $15 for this.

BLEACH: HTS4 - Recently unlocked Ukitake, he's fun to play as, too bed he's sick and loses health after certain attacks. Game is still pretty fun, and I should soon have other people to play against.

Katamari Damacy - Not much left to do except finish the constellations. I need to shell out the $30 for We <3 Katamari soon.

Did any of the things Arcsys did to the US version modify balance issues?

The game is balanced as is because EVERYONE has high damaging combos even though Testament and Eddie are S-Tier. The only things fixed in the U.S. version were game freezing glitches and Johnny's free Jackhound glitch(236632146HS). Jackhound is supposed to 214D and it wastes 25% Tension Guage.

But yeah, everything is still the same: Combos, hitboxes, etc. etc.

Very cool. Fortunately none of my friends (or myself) are good enough to really have an advantage using one character over another one. My favorite character currently is Baiken, tho I'm pretty good with Jam as well.

Yeah, the game isn't tier friendly because ANYONE can win if you know the match up. Like, Testament and Eddie are only tops due to their crazy unblockables and high/low mixup games. They also have a lot of corner traps that.

And good choices on the characters. Baiken and Jam are pretty buff in this game. Too bad Anji and Johnny couldn't be up there. Like, you can win, but you have to play flawlessly. Especially with Johnny, because he's very reliant on heavy execution and can be easily locked down.

Damn, I might have to start a GG thread.

EDIT - Another cool thing about Slayer is that he can kill you in 5 hits(depending on the combo and setup situation).

I'm convinced I must be doing something wrong then. I'm getting through the game just fine, but you wouldn't believe the number of times I've had to restart missions. My characters seem to die at the drop of a hat. I didn't have this much trouble with any of the other SRPGs I've played recently, what am I doing wrong? When I compare my performance in this game to that in other similar games, I'm not really pleased with myself.

Of course, with all that said, I'm not even as far into the game as you are.

Maybe I'm just spamming the transformation system.

I mean using comrades to weaken foes + Plus delivering the deathblow in the transformed form + Godspeed = A very easy game. Are you taking advantage of the burning aura? The rock, paper, scissors gameplay? Not exceeding your turn count? I just don't get how you are having any type of trouble, I mean you've played and beat Disgaea :P

It seems to be getting easier the more I play. There were just a few of the early missions where my characters seemed to be dying really easily, and then there's the one where you have to protect the nobleman, and that was really frustrating...

Perhaps it's an unnecessary holdover from games like Fire Emblem, but I just don't like unique characters dying, and this game doesn't seem to have generics. I'm not really having any trouble beating the missions, except that "nobleman" mission. What I'm having trouble with is fulfilling my own self-imposed condition that nobody dies. I'm just not that far into the game as yet, so I expect that as I level up that will be less of a problem.

That sums up my feelings on the game as well. I'll get back to Odin Sphere sometime in the near future.

Anyway, I'm still playing Prime 3, just arrived at the Pirate Homeworld, probably go through there later tonight.

After I beat Prime 3, I'm already planning on playing Chrono Trigger, which I really need to finish this time around, and Chrono Cross, which I really haven't played much since I first beat it many years ago, though it still remains a favorite.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

I spent, I dunno, maybe 120+ hours on FFXII, which is pretty rare for me nowadays. If I actually play some RPG to completion for 50+ hours it feels like it totally drags (TOA), but for some reason the exploring and collecting sucked me in. With that said, I had little expectations for this DS title. The original XII's story was kinda meh and I knew the gameplay was gonna change so I half expected crap out of this. Not to mention III took me about 30 minutes to abandon.

That said something is refreshing about this title. I always loved sprite based character designs. Now I get to see them for a lot of characters and baddies I'm well acquanted with after the PS2 title. That alone coukd probably hold my attention. And the gameplay isn't too hard to grasp for what is essentially an RTS. Plus the main complaint I'm hearing is the length of the game, and since my main difficult is finishing and I'm actually more likely to finish a shorter game, I'm finding myself pretty happy with this purchase. Will see how the game turns out.

I haven't had much exposure to many anime or manga at all, despite the notion that posting on these forums might give off. Unfortunately, I can't really pull from this habit of only using characters that I like in the few manga I've read. The majority of the decks I use only use Dragonball, Hunter X Hunter, and Gintama battle characters. Not to blame my not-win streak on that, but I simply won't use some characters like Ichigo simply because I don't like Bleach.

Although...Kagura always seems to be the star character of my decks whenever I do win. She's just good though (Smile type, so she excels against Power types which is...what everybody uses. And her 4 koma has a quick heal ability, and her 5 koma has a powerful heal ability).

Not once tonight did I get a group that wanted to go more than 1 round.

The general "peace" sign is using a character's Ultimate Action, or the select button. Generally, if you see people doing these around each other, they have no intention of fighting. Sometimes people won't do this, and generally a good sign of people not wanting to fight is a good period of time passing without any action, I don't usually act first just to see who is doing what. I come across this often, and while I don't often like it, usually I just screw around for a few moments to kill time. I never let my guard down in Sudden Death though, there are many players who will sit there and use the Ultimate Action, and then with 10 seconds left in SD, kill everyone else before they have a chance to retaliate.

Though it looks like cheaters have become more widespread, I've only come across one that was actually being annoying with it, the other two were just using healing koma over and over, which doesn't really bother me as much.

As for characters I use, I tend and use characters I like for fun, but when I'm battling competitively, I'm good with Hiei (Yu Yu Hakusho), Luffy (One Piece), Eve (Black Cat) and Linali (D.Gray-man). If you're interested in a 1-on-1 match, you can PM me.

I didn't think it could be done, but a friend told me people can use a cheat for infinite SP. I don't want to suggest people always cheat when I go against them, but I do know there is no way somebody uses 4 supports in a row at the very beginning of Sudden death.

That's exactly what got me in the mood. Maybe I'll get it soon. ^_^

I'm glad I'm not the only one dying to get Contra 4 and a DS.

Haven't touched any games lately due to studies.

Overlord: just beat it just over 23 hrs, funny, fun, and awesome game
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men

The game had good points, i cant help thinking a couple more months of polish and work would have made this game the next generation Max Payne

I found a weird budget DS title at Toys R Us that I think may be a Toys R Us exclusive. It's called "Rhythm & Notes" and it's basically a music learning tool where you identify piano chords and do other things. I tried the chord identifier thing and got schooled pretty bad. I guess it helps to actually know how to play the piano before attempting this game.

I'm also playing Lego Star Wars Saga on the PS3 and Powerstone 2 on the Dreamcast.

Oh and still playing Disgaea PSP almost everyday.

Adventure Island
Played through and beat earlier today. This is still one of my favorite games on the NES and overall it's pretty easy up until that incredibly annoying jumping sequence on 8-3. Haven't you ever wondered what's up with this guy though? He's got some crazy eating problem if you ask me. If he doesn't eat something every minute he'll just... die.

Not everyday that you see an AN member playing this game. Then again, you did name yourself after the games

I really need to get around to playing Max Payne 1 & 2 over again; the story is just so well thought out and perfectly presented.

I rented Naruto Rise of a Ninja. its pretty entertaining so far.

I found that the story ended too soon and once I finish the game it got boring.

I'm playing Halo 2 right now, thought I'd get to know the story.
I have Assassins Creed but it hasn't hooked me at all, it's not that great a game in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to Fable 2 and Star Wars Unleashed.

Got exited about Nippon Ichi games a week or two ago. Mainly Disgaea 2.

Also trying to switch towards card- and boardgames a little. Magic the Gathering is still fun, even if the game is a little "broken" with so many card sets available.
