Final Fantasy IX Sweeps Japanese Playstation Awards

Sony of Japan has announced the results of the 2001 Playstation Awards, recognizing the Playstation and Playstation 2 titles with the most units sold, and the results of fan voting. In the fan response categories, Final Fantasy IX won the grand prix prize, placed first in the graphics, sound, and scenario categories, and captured 3 of the top 5 favorite character rankings, beating out competition including Dragon Quest VII and and even Playstation 2 titles including Onimusha and Gran Turismo 3.
