Death Note Movie to Have Limited American Theatrical Screenings

Viz Media has announced plans to screen the first live action Death Note motion picture in over 300 theatres across the United States. Digital screenings will be shown on May 20 and 21, at 7:30 PM local time. The screenings will also include a specially produced 20-minute feature on how the manga translates to live action as well an interview with director Shusuke Kaneko. Viz calls the Shusuke Kaneko interview a “first ever,” but it’s not since Twitch and The Brooklyn Rail have both previously published interviews with Kaneko about the Death Note films.

Advance purchase tickets will be available from April 18th through April 20th to all subscribers of the Shonen Jump e-mail newsletter. Tickets for the general public will be available starting on April 21st at box offices and at FathomEvents.com. The Fathom Events website will eventually host a list of theaters scheduled to carry the screenings.
