Definitely John, it could be so harmful that a ban like this could hands down kill the entire anime and manga industry and seriously harm MANY, MANY other fields as IT IS NOT directly banning anime/manga/hentai, it could ban from anime to a book, a movie, a poster, a tv ad, and who knows more as moralists hiprocites seem to have so much free time to waste on this rather than protect real living persons.

On the 64,000,000 question: Will Starcade give it a rest with his rant this time or as usual show up to post when it comes to news like this?

Lets wait and see :-)

"Personally, I’m surprised that this bill has even made it as far in serious legal consideration as it has."

If the Polanski Swiss tax cheat exchange is any indication, it's probably one of those things we're forcing on them in return for going easy on their eating whales and blue-fin tuna. =p

I'll be a dick and do some price-comparisons on other e-tailers first. Though it'd be hilarious if websites start using this as an excuse to defend DP Flash the way people are now trying to defend Heaven's Gate.

Does anyone remember White Radish Productions? Yeah, those guys have been working on "creating their own anime" for some ten years, and according to the progression bar... they are at 39.1% That's mind-blowing.

But to be a bit more generous in the way of advice, go to school first, study the medium religiously, and become an active and skilled apprentice. The animation business in Canada is seriously booming nowadays (on both ends of the country, both Ontario and British Columbia have invested a higher percent of funds into animation production these past two years, consecutively).

Some final notes: (1) For all of the talk about the decline in consumer support for anime and manga, the market in Japan is tremendously over-saturated. Keep this in mind. (2) One has to acknowledge that screenwriting is often spotty, short, and quick work... Chihiro Ito, who wrote the screenplay for THE SKY CRAWLERS, spent about a month drafting the script, followed by some back and forth with Oshii... and then, that was it.

I absolutely love one piece, and own all the Funimation that is out--I love long series, and this series despite it's comedy has depth to some of the characters and leaves some things a mystery.

Also there have been many episodes that have made my eyes leak. There is no filler like Naruto. . .and my friends here all wear One Piece shirts and buy One Piece figures, not Naruto--I love Naruto too, but its just different then One Piece.

I'd argue that Rossieu isn't actually either corrupt or evil. He's just so devoted to his principles that he looses sight of other things that are important to him. I'd also argue that Griffith doesn't "turn evil" because his goal and his means are consist from his very first introduction. He's a very charismatic villain, and we're introduced to him from his own perspective, but that doesn't make him a good guy.

I haven't watched all of Sunabozu, so I can't comment on that one.

@Evilatem

Cowboy Bebop has been coming on Cartoon Network for 9 years now. If you haven't watched it yet that's your fault, but it's still worth watching.

If you would have stopped at just the name of the post then you wouldn't know who dies or when.

At the end of the first season of the Jigoku Shojo tv series, the Hell Girl Enma Ai becomes a vengeful spirit when she remembers her past and her own assistants must stop her from damning an innocent man to hell. I guess that one is also temporary though. Another example of a supporting character turning antagonistic is Rossiu in Gurren Lagann when he becomes a corrupt government official and imprisons the hero (after considering having him executed). Of course it's hard not to mention Griffith from Berserk. That one is pretty obvious. I'm going to assume that Light Yagaim doesn't count since he was technically evil from the start. Walter in Hellsing is revealed to be a double agent in the endgame of the series. And if you delve into the Gundam universe, there are dozens of characters who change sides, sometimes more than once.
