Further Kick-Heart Anime Teased

Production I.G has announced via Kickstarter that the amount of Kick-Heart anime that creator/director Masaaki Yuasa animates may vary dependent upon how much crowd contributed money is raised. The studio’s original plan is to create a ten-minute short if fans volunteer $150,000 by the end of this month. However, if the initial funding goal reaches $400,000, the studio will produce a second ten-minute companion short. And if contributions reach $1,000,000, the studio will launch production of a feature film. Production I.G realistically notes, “This is a very ambitious goal, but if fans really want to make a crowd-funded feature animated film, we thought we would provide the option.”

After five days, the crowd-funding effort has already generated $69,608, nearly half of its initial funding goal.

As I’ve mentioned, I’ve already committed to a $100 donation. Regrettably, I’m not confident that I can afford to give more than that.

I think they’ll be fortunate if they get to the second goal, and that they shouldn’t push their luck.
