Aniplex Clarifies Domestic Bakemonogatari Release

Aniplex America has confirmed that its domestic release of the 2009 Bakemonogatari television anime series will be a subtitled only Blu-ray exclusive this fall. Unlike past Aniplex America Blu-ray releases including Kara no Kyoukai, R.O.D., and Baccano that were just official American imports of the Japanese market Blu-rays, the American Blu-ray release of Bakemonogatari will be an original American pressing made specifically for the American market. Likewise, Aniplex America’s forthcoming re-release of the Kara no Kyoukai movies will be a domestically produced BD collection.

Domestically “in-house” created discs should reduce the retail price drastically, theoretically from hundreds of dollars to less than one-hundred.

Unfortunately the re-release of Kara no Kyoukai appears to be DVD only according to the ANN article. I’d love to have it on Blu-ray.
