Discotek License Rescues Cobra Movie

Discotek has announced plans to release the 1982 Space Adventure Cobra motion picture on domestic bilingual DVD this August. The release will include, at least, the American dub produced by Carl Macek, and possibly the UK dub produced by Manga Video. Urban Vision released the film on American VHS in 1998. The movie was released on Blu-ray in Japan in August 2010. According to Discotek, “If the DVD does well enough there may be a blu ray but it will be awhile.”

Kind of ironic that you’re linking the UK dub trailer, considering Discotek might not even be able to clear the music rights for that one. :)

Also makes me wish Matthew Broderick was providing the narration. =p

if Discotek keeps getting the rights to 80′s anime series, I hope they try for “King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table”. This was by far my most favorite telling of the Arthurian legend and I never even got to see the whole series.

Regrettably, the UK dub trailer was the only trailer for the movie I could find.

John: Nah, I like it, too. I’m hoping, worst case scenario, DT can at least put it on the disc, if they can’t get the rights to the whole track. But *was* there a U.S. trailer?
