Madoka Magica Movie Trilogy Announced
Puella Magi Madoka Magica animation producer Atsuhiro Iwakami has formally confirmed that a trilogy of Madoka Magica feature films are now in development. Two of the movies will condense the spring 2011 television series story while a third film will present an entirely new story.
This announcement certainly seems to reinforce the widely adopted perception that Madoka Magica is, in multiple respects, the Evangelion of magical girl anime.

“the Evangelion of magical girl anime.”
You mean an unoriginal and pretentious gimmick which has long worn out its welcome, but which continues to make money, because the overall fanbase for it has no real taste in anime?

I think we should give it another 10 or 15 years, and if by then Madoka Magica is still popular and relevant enough to get annoyingly persistent haters like this guy above (seriously, Gatsu from ANN, did Hideaki Anno shoot your dog or something?), then we will know it truly is the “Evangelion of magical girl anime”.
