Gundam AGE Announced

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

Sunrise and Bandai have formally announced the next Mobile Suit Gundam television series. Keroro Gunso movies director Susumu Yamaguchi will direct Kido Senshi Gundam AGE with Inazuma Eleven Go & Danboru Senki screenwriter Akihiro Hino supervising the story and Inazuma Eleven Go character designer Takuzo Nagano providing original character designs. The alternate continuity story will cover three generations – 100 years – in the A.G. (Advanced Generation) timeline. The story will initially revolve around a young boy who must rebuild and pilot the ancient Gundam mobile suit to defend his space colony from attacks by an alien force.

Gundam AGE will premiere in October.

This is certainly an unexpected new direction following the stylistic consistency of Gundam Seed, Gundam OO, and Gundam UC. Gundam AGE seems to be taking cues from V-Gundam and Turn A Gundam, along with Gunpla Builders.

ItsuTen Full Trailer Released

Friday, June 10th, 2011

Kadokawa has released a new, full trailer for next month’s Itsuka Tenma no Kuro-Usagi television series. The adaptation of the popular light novel series from DenYuDen creator Takaya Kagami will premiere on July 8.

This is getting very heavy advance promotion, but I don’t see anything particularly interesting about it, especially since it’s coming right on the heels of Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? which seems to have a similar concept and execution. Hopefully the show will prove me wrong.
