Morita-san wa Mukuchi TV Trailer

Monday, June 27th, 2011

The homepage for next month’s Morita-san wa Mukuchi school-life comedy has added a streaming trailer. Tae Sano’s 4-koma manga about a schoolgirl who spends so much time thinking about what to say that she never actually speaks was adapted into an OAD released on February 26. The TV series adaptation will premiere on July 5.

I thought that the character designs for the OAD were a bit bland, but I like the TV series character designs even less.

Ask John: Will Dragon Ball Kai Continue?

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Question:

I was wondering if Toei would ever renew their interest in adapting the the Majin Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z into Dragon Ball Kai. The director’s cut version of Dragon Ball Z ended with the Cell Games Saga in March 2011, and now has been replaced by Toei’s adaptation of Toriko. It feels like the series is unfinished with Buu portion of the series left out and even the Japanese voice actors have even stated their hope that Toei will adapt this part of the story, but in your opinion will Toei ever do it or will it remain an exclusive to the original Dragon Ball Z.

Section23 Acquires Himawari!

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Section23 has acquired the digital & DVD distribution rights to the 2006 female ninja school adventure/comedy television series Himawari! The announcement does not clarify whether the license covers only the 13 episode first series or if the license includes the 13 episode second series from 2007 titled “Himawari!!” (with two exclamation points). The Maiden Japan label will distribute the subtitled series.

This is actually a nice license of an overlooked, fun little show. Sure, it’s lightweight, but it’s amusing provided the viewer doesn’t expect another Yotoden or Kage -Shadow-.
