FUNimation has announced plans to stream weekly episodes of this month’s new shounen anime television series Toriko. The adaptation of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro’s manga about a man who scours the world for rare and delicious animals to kill and eat will stream on FUNimation’s video page and Hulu.
FUNimation has also announced plans to stream the current Noitamina series anime title [C]. The first episode aired on Japanese television today. FUNimation will begin streaming the show on the 21st.
FUNimation has formally announced its acquisition of home entertainment, broadcast, and digital rights to Gainax’s 2010 action comedy television series Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. The complete series will hit domestic DVD next year.
To refresh your memory or introduce you to an interesting opening animation sequence, I submit the 1996 Martian Successor Nadesico TV series. The opening theme is “You Get to Burning,” sung by Yumi Matsuzawa.
The official website for creator/director Kenji Kamiyama’s theatrical anime project Xi Avant is now streaming all four parts of the short film. The promotional anime for NTT Docomo’s Xi data service is screening in Japanese theaters in stereoscopic 3D with theatrical screenings of Kamiyama’s Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society motion picture. The web stream is in 2D.

The homepage for Sega’s Senjo no Valkyria 3 strategy game has added a streaming trailer for the two-episode Senjou no Valkyria 3: Dare ga Tame no Juusou OVA series. The first episode will be released on June 29.

Bandai has released a four-minute trailer for this October’s alternate history sci-fi action anime television series Kyokai Senjo no Horizon (Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere).
For better or worse, I have the feeling that this trailer tells us all we need to know about the show.

Anime producer/distributor Aniplex has formally announced that studio AIC ASTA is developing a TV anime adaptation of Atlus’ Persona 4 RPG. Seiji Kishi (Angel Beats!, My Bride is a Mermaid) will direct. Original game designers Kazuma Kaneko and Shigenori Soejima are providing anime series concept designs and original character designs, respectively. The Japanese voice cast of the original game will reprise its roles for the anime adaptation.
The Mayonaka-TV website hosts an announcement teaser trailer.

The current issue of Animage Magazine has announced that Tsutomu Mizushima (Haré+Guu, XXXHOLiC) will direct a series of two-minute anime adaptations of Cha Kurii’s gag manga +Tic Neesan (“Plustic Elder Sister”). The story revolves around a high school girl who enjoys building plastic models with her school model-building club.

Yahoo Japan now streams a 60 second trailer for the upcoming Sengoku Basara: The Last Party motion picture that will open theatrically in Japan on June 4. The popular adaptation of Capcom’s historical action game has previously had two television series.

The homepage for BONES’ (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0) forthcoming Noitamina anime television series No.6 has added a streaming trailer. The adaptation of Atsuko Asano’s sci-fi novel series revolves around a priviledged boy who saves a fugitive, in the process discovering that the world is more complex than he previously thought. The show will premiere in July.

Although not formally confirmed yet, domestic home video distributor Shout! Factory appears to have scheduled a July 5 release for a four DVD complete collection of the 1987 Transformers: Headmasters anime series that has never been officially distributed in America before. The 780 minute “Transformers: The Headmasters – The Japanese Collection” will apparantly retain its original Japanese language audio and retail at $29.93. Hong Kong-based Omni Productions did produce an English dub for the show for its Asian television broadcast. Language options on the tentative domestic DVD release have not been clarified yet.

Actress Kikukawa Rei will star in the Fuji TV network’s “Kansatsui Nanaura Sayoko ~Houigakusha no Jiken Profile~” TV drama based on Yasutomi Takashi’s mystery manga Kansatsui Sayoko. Kikukawa will play a medical examiner who uses her forensics and profiling skills to track a serial killer. The TV series will premiere on the 22nd.
