Gyo Anime Announced
Next week’s issue of Big Comic Spirits Magazine will formally announce that anime studio ufotable (Kara no Kyoukai) will produce an anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s horror manga Gyo. The two-volume 2002 manga series is set in Okinawa when a wave of aggressive, bio-organic fish invade land and begin horribly maiming and consuming humans.
Viz distributes both volumes of the manga domestically.
Oh neat! This was a very creepy and disturbing horror story that should be very interesting to see in motion.

Hahaha, I’m looking forward to this one. You don’t see straight-up gritty horror in anime very often… And I’m not talking about the battle-centric Hellsing Ultimate, or the moe-infused Higurashi and its spinoffs. I hope this adaptation turns out well.

It’s got my pre-order. Now if only someone would license it here when it comes out…
