Sentai Acquires Yumekui Merry
Sentai Filmworks has announced its acquisition of domestic distribution rights to the currently airing 12 episode Yumekui Merry television series. Sentai will tentatively distribute the series under the title “Dream Eater Merry.”
This really feels fitting as a Sentai acquisition. Feel free to interpret that as my opinion.

While being a standard JC Staff show in a lot of ways, I couldn’t put my finger on why Yumekui Merry gave me such a weird vibe until I read that it’s from the director of Casshern Sins. that highly visual, off-kilter style that I remember from Sins is probably the only thing that strings me along through Merry, and the show is at its best when it lays it on thick. Otherwise, sure, it doesn’t often transcend its mundane JC Staff qualities.
And yeah, as simply a JC Staff show of the moment, it’s kind of an uninspiring licensing choice.
