75 year old Space Battleship Yamato co-creator and producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki drowned to death on Sunday, November 7 after falling off the deck of the research boat Yamato, which was anchored 250 meters off shore of the Ogasawara Islands to allow Nishizaki and several of the boat’s nine passengers to go swimming.
Nishizaki produced last year’s Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection motion picture and is credited as a creator behind next month’s live action Space Battleship Yamato movie.

The Ramen Para Dos fan blog reports that a TMS Entertainment spokesman at the recent XVI Salón del Manga de Barcelona convention confirmed that next February’s second St. Seiya: The Lost Canvas anime series will not be broadcast on television prior to its DVD & BD release the way the first series was. The decision not to broadcast the second series is based on perception that the television broadcast of the first series was not successful, and, according to TMS European representative Cinzia Mariani, it is now difficult to convince Japanese television networks used to 26 episode series to allot space for 13 episode series.

Question:
As a fan of the first Darker than Black series, I was really excited that a second season went into production given that it didnt seem like Japan’s run of the mill marketing dream series. I thought the second season was one of the best animated of the 2009 season but, well, there were only 12 episodes with no resolution whatsoever. I know this has happened before (Tokko and Berserk immediately spring to mind), but it seems that having put up the money for a beautiful first half, the production studio might as well finish the job. Why you think this particular series was not continued and what similar but less known other examples were stopped and then picked up? (Black lagoon comes to mind.)

Anime News Network (ANN) reports that it will resume simulcasting the current Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai and Togainu no Chi anime series next week. ANN began simulcasting the “OreImo” television series last month but inadvertently allowed a hacker to gain early access to the series’ second episode and distribute the episode publicly. As a result of the security breech, ANN’s right to stream the series was temporarily withheld, and streaming of the Togainu no Chi anime series was temporarily delayed.

Interesting. The logo and title suggest a musical theme, which is different from the current Heartcatch Precure’s flower theme. This logo suggests an entirely new series with a new cast. I’d be somewhat surprised if the Heartcatch girls don’t get a second series considering how successful the current series seems to be.
