We love Makoto Shinkai’s previous works for their story and beautiful visuals, here’s the latest on the upcoming Hoshi o Ou Kodomo (Children who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, due out May 2011).

Lots of what one would expect from a Shinkai film: expansive landscapes barren of modern industry, young men and women swept up with emotion, and some fleeting intimation of the importance of the ephemeral nature of interpersonal relations.
