Opening A Day

To refresh your memory or introduce you to an interesting opening animation sequence, I offer the cultish fan favorite opening to the 2002 Overman King Gainer TV series. The theme song is “King Gainer Over!” sung by Yoshiki Fukuyama.

    I love the imagination of this opener. I haven’t heard great things about the series, but it looks fun.

    Ha, I love this one too. I enjoyed the series, too, but purists should stay very far away from the dub (which, like a few other Sunrise titles, is a very literal translation because, one might presume, of the original studio’s possible involvement).

    The anime has some fine characters, but it stumbles into typical Tomino character dynamics, and feels a little cheesy more than a few times. I’m a bit of a fan of the mecha designer from this series, too.
