Star Driver Trailer Released
The homepage for studio BONES’ latest work, Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto, has added a streaming trailer. The “school robot action” anime series will premiere next month.
Can’t say that it looks especially original, but it does look it may be interesting.

I did get some Tengen Toppa vibes in some moments but still look very bones-like mecha.
Definitely interesting for me, not counting heroman which is not even an original Bones idea, Xam and Eureka 7 were very good and amazing respectively, this is one of the genres bones do best.

It looks like the backgrounds and “science” of Gurren Lagann mixed with the character animations and “fabulous” qualities of Code Geass (the mech poses like Zero).

It also has the super glam vibe of Diebuster, so I didn’t want to say just Gainax’s Gurren-Lagann. But yeah, it’s an amalgam of modern mecha anime including the ones Bones produces. It may as well be entertaining, but it’s yet another shounen action and/or mecha anime thing from Bones that leaves me wishing they’d do Something Different… like Ouran Host Club (yes, that was really made by them) and arguably Sword of the Stranger, just to get away from their seemingly endless shounen-centric output.
They do battle animation consistently better than any other studio, though.
