Even though I’d most likely would not watch this, I like the character design.

Honestly, it took me a little while to recognize and accept the fact that the show really doesn’t have a linear, dramatic story. It hints at one, but ultimately it’s just a simple, slice of life show with a supernatural element. I did enjoy it, and I liked it even more once I adjusted my expectations to accept what it is instead of what I thought it was going to develop into.

I echo John’s opinion about its story. The first couple episodes sets you up for a Ghibli-esque adventure, but it’s ultimately very subdued and episodic even for “the kind of show” that it is (“Iyashikei”? Is that the genre word?)
I was also a little disappointed that its production values (past the initial few episodes) kind of fell into a pit of mediocrity. Not to say that it was outright bad or anything, but with its eccentric character designs and otherwise creative art design, I was expecting it to be a visually creative, animator-driven thing. That wasn’t the case, save for a few key episodes. The rest of it felt like I.G. was handing it off to their korean “B-team” so they could concentrate on whacking together more episodes of Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig.
The show is okay, but in my mind it’s been overshadowed by Kamichu, a similar series from around the same time. I always forget that Fuujin Monogatari / Windy Tales is a show I’ve watched
