Madhouse to Animate Supernatural

The Madhouse anime production studio, in collaboration with film producer/distributor Warner Bros., will produce a 22 episode OVA series adaptation of Warner’s successful live action television series Supernatural. The anime series will be an expanded re-telling of the live action series’ 2005 first season, featuring additional original episodes and antagonists created specifically for the anime version. Aoi Bungaku Series directors Shigeyuki Miya & Atsuko Ishizuka will co-direct the Supernatural anime series. Naoya Takayama (Night Head, Liar Game) will supervise script composition and Trigun character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu will provide the anime character designs. The series’ first 2-episode volume will hit Japanese retail home video on January 12, 2011. “Box 1″ containing episodes 3-12 will go on sale February 2. “Box 2″ containing episodes 13-22 will be available April 6.
