The homepage for the Queen’s Blade anime franchise has begun streaming a trailer for the upcoming Queen’s Blade: Utsukushiki Toshi-tachi (Queen’s Blade: Beautiful Warriors) OVA series. The first of the six monthly episodes will hit Japanese DVD & BD in August.

Next week’s issue of Shonen Sunday magazine reportedly contains an announcement that Tamiki Wakaki’s romantic comedy manga serial Kami no Mizo Shiru Sekai (The world God Only Knows) will be getting an anime adaptation. The story revolves around schoolboy Keima Katsuragi, known as the “Capturing God” because of his skill at capturing the hearts of female characters in dating simulation computer games. The devil charges him with using his charms on real women to catch the runaway spirits that hide in women’s hearts.

Deadline reports that Albert Hughes, one half of the Hughes Brothers directing team responsible for films including Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, and The Book of Eli, will helm the production of at least the first of Warner Bros.’ two planned live action Akira movies. New York Magazine reported in February that the Hughes Brothers were in negotiations with Warner to take the reigns of the production. Warner acquired the rights to produce an American live action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo’s 1982 manga in 2008.

The Japanese homepage for the Baka to Test to Shokanjuu television series announced plans for a second series on April Fool’s Day. It’s now a day later and the announcement is still up, so I guess it’s real.
Crunchyroll has begun its official English subtitled streaming distribution of the new Heroman anime series. The sci-fi action show was co-developed by American comic book creative legend Stan Lee and Japanese production studio BONES. Weekly episodes will be available to Crunchyroll subscribers one hour after Japanese TV broadcast, and available to all viewers one week after Japanese broadcast.
A minute of behind the scenes footage of director Shinsuke Sato’s currently filming two live action Gantz movies has appeared on YouTube. The two movies are an adaptation of Hiroya Oku’s presently ongoing sci-fi action manga.
