But Luffy’s Rival….. not such thing, the One Piece world is so vast, so unique and with lots of awesome characters that it would be too simply and such a waste to focus on a few characters or a single rival, One Piece goes to the next level and beyong, Luffy has no one but MANY rivals that also are after One Piece and for the title of Pirate King. If one insists in naming a rival, well, while not the strongest we have the very persisting Buggy the clown and Alvida that are in pursuit of Luffy and have followed him all the way to the Grand Line since the very beginning of the story and if we talk about marines then Smoker is particularly obsessed with catching Luffy.

So yes, Luffy has no rival but many oppents he has to defeat in his journey to becoming the pirate king, he has some people obsessed with him and even following him but that is about it, even Buggy which is the closest to a rival since they are both pirates has even helped Luffy!
