Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

gowcaizer_game_anime

Question:
A little web reseach reveals that 1997′s “travesty,” known to most English-speaking anime viewers as the VOLTAGE FIGHTER GOWCAISER movie was a compilation of three original separate episodes. By any remote chance, have you ever seen the separate episodes, and, if so, do they restore any sense to the otherwise incomplete and convoluted storyline, as depicted in the movie version?

Angel_Beats_trailer

The latest trailer for April’s bishoujo battle action anime television series Angel Beats! is the first one to reveal footage from the actual animation. This heavily promoted original anime production is based on a story by Maeda Jun, scenario writer for PC games including Kanon, Air, and Clannad. The animation is a co-production between PC game developer VisualArt’s/Key and anime producer Aniplex. The animation is being produced by P.A. Works.

This literally looks exactly like what should be expected from a sad-girls-in-snow story animated by the studio that brought us Canaan.

Denno Coil Unfurls in Reality!

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

The Tokyu Corporation’s pin@clip “augmented reality” iPhone application, which launched service on December 1st, will begin a promotional campaign this Saturday connected to the 2007 Denno Coil anime television series. The pin@clip service uses the iPhone camera, GPS, and Google to superimpose information about local locations, services, and events in real-time over the camera’s view. The service reports on department store sales, movies, concerts, and similar events in Tokyo’s Shibuya district.

The award winning Denno Coil anime depicted a near future world in which children wear electronic glasses that augment their view of reality. During the promotion, the pin@clip application will display references to the Denno Coil anime, and the Parco Part 1 department store in Shibuya will sell 15 different Denno Coil t-shirts.

You can say that this technology seems to be getting used for a rather frivolous purpose, but it’s still darn neat to see anime technology literally appearing in real life.
