Bungaku Shoujo Teaser Streaming Now
The homepage for Production I.G’s upcoming anime film Bungaku Shoujo (Literary Girl) now includes a 60 second streaming Flash teaser trailer. The adaptation of Mizuki Nomura’s light novel series is a lighthearted drama about the president of a high school literature club who is actually a supernatural creature that feeds on stories – she literally eats book pages – and a reclusive young author who knows her secret and writes stories just for her. The film will open theatrically during the Golden Week 2010 holiday season (late April into the first week of May).

ouch… mediocre TV-quality animation in a Production I.G. theatrical film

or well, I remember when I.G. typically stood for high-end, geeky productions, but that has gradually become the exception than the rule as they dove further into cheaply-made TV series and broad-appeal genre stuff. Here we have this crap-looking moé thing they’re trying to pass off as a theatrical feature. I mean they still put out some nice stuff, but this gradual slide says something about how tough it is to survive in the anime industry I suppose.
