New Shoujo Manga Mag in Development

Following the demise of Viz Media’s Shoujo Beat Magazine, a small group of enterprising fans led by Publisher/Editorial Director Garrett Boast have launched plans for ShojoBerry Magazine, a new English language outlet for translated Japanese shoujo manga. Boast states, “We are planning on doing a promotional issue in April 2010 for Tekkoshocon.”

Talk about being brave. I have more confidence in another seinen mag in America like Raijin than another Shojo mag.

I do wish these folks the best of luck. The demise of Shoujo Jump suggests that this is a risky venture, but there isn’t presently a periodical anthology of shoujo manga in America, and shoujo manga does have an audience in America.
