Well, you have to ask yourselves if these types of shows actually sell enough for Bandai to do more than that? I mean, other than success of the manga, Lucky Star's OVA actually got priced for less than the average new R1 DVD price for a recent anime. And I don't see it taking off at American cons [i.e. through cosplay] the way I did with Haruhi. Kannagi isn't something I feel any anticipation for, other than from the moe-philes. [Yes, I know, poor choice of words. Or maybe not.]

I agree. This feels very much like Bandai dumping a pretty good show by offering it direct and exclusively through only one third-party retailer (advertising the initial release as available from Amazon is misleading because it's actually just Bandai and RSI selling through Amazon) with no advertising to hype the DVD release. I don't consider the minimal English Nagi-sama Fan Club site the same thing as creating anticipation and generating pre-orders for a scheduled forthcoming DVD release. This feels very much like Bandai throwing the show out into the wild and hoping that it sells itself.

Shouldn't a simulcast-acquisition be something you consciously hype, almost irregardless of how long or short the lead time? Although I certainly know it's not their intention, it sort of feels like they just tossed the title at our feet: "Hey! New anime, here you go."

That said, a simulcast is still an interesting idea. Though I wonder how long they plan to do so, evidently competing with their own video sales.
