Viz Schedules Naruto Shippuden DVDs

Viz Media will release its first Naruto Shippuden DVD on September 29th. The $24.92 DVD will contain the series first four episodes uncut and bilingual. The second Naruto Shippuden DVD volume will follow on October 27th. Unlike the first Naruto TV series, which is only available uncut in multi-disc collections, Viz has not yet confirmed any plans for multi-disc collections of Naruto Shippuden.
Viz has also announced plans to release the first Naruto Shippuden motion picture in November. No further details are available yet, however.
Uncut Naruto boxed sets have been selling well. Individual DVD releases and sales are now nearly obsolete. So Viz is going to switch away from uncut boxed sets to uncut singles. Sure. That makes sense.

We’re going to get a good idea as to how completely obsolete the entire DVD model is with these releases.
Think: This is one of the few titles that can basically print money for Viz (and, hence, it’s one of the few titles left on their catalog!) — if Shippuden can’t, what can?

Too bad none of these american distributors get who they’re competing against.
I could either pay close to $30 for only 4 episodes, a crappy dub and some extras I don’t care about, or I could watch my decent quality fansubs for free.
I don’t mind paying for anime; I’d rather pay for a high quality release than some fansub, but I want my money’s worth.
