"but when Raoh has a lengthy monologue explaining his machismo philosophy to his horse -as he does in this TV series- we’ve reached the realm of ridiculous irrelevance."

Is it really any worse than Shia trying to "reason" with Bumblee?

Except I personally know two die-hard Hokuto fans that have imported R2 Hokuto no Ken anime DVDs who both refused to finish watching this show. If it's so bad that even Hokuto no Ken die-hards won't watch it, how much hope does it have?

Especially in recent years Hokuto no Ken has earned a reputation for its lengthy manly monologues, but when Raoh has a lengthy monologue explaining his machismo philosophy to his horse -as he does in this TV series- we've reached the realm of ridiculous irrelevance.

Haven't seen it myself, but I imagine no one watched it for free, because the fans haven't been there for the series in general in America for a while now. But I'm guessing the CR broadcast has helped cultivate a renewed interest in the franchise; after all, it's no coincidence that Discotek just picked up the first movie. [Plus, that Neo-Tokyo bundle couldn't have hurt, either.] Anyway, a Raoh back-story must be a challenge in itself, given his lack of personality. So I'm willing to give the OVAs a whirl, in hopes that they bring over the other spin-offs, and hopefully the Souten No Ken anime and manga(again).
