New Tezuka Anime in Development

Reportedly Tezuka Productions is now developing new anime feature film adaptations of the late Osamu Tezuka’s 1953-56 Princess Knight (Ribbon no Kishi) and 1972-1983 Buddha manga series. The films are tentatively planned for release next year or later.

Princess Knight was adapted into an anime television series in 1967, a theatrical anime feature in 1994, and a live stage musical in 2006. Viz published a commemorative single chapter of the Princess Night manga in English in 2007. Vertical currently distributes the Buddha manga series in English.
