Okay! Where’s Heart Cocktail & Karuizawa Syndrome?

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Okay! Where\'s Heart Cocktail & Karuizawa Syndrome?

A while back I found a poor quality copy of the forgotten 1992 OVA Apfelland Monogatari. Not long after I watched it, a “good” quality copy turned up in fan distribution channels. A little while later I watched a poor quality copy of the first episode of the 1987 Tsuideni Tonchinkan TV series. A good quality copy of that same episode just appeared in fan distribution last weekend. Last weekend I found low quality copies of the first 4 episodes of the 1992 Eien no Filena OVA series. The entire 6 episode series has just appeared in fan distribution. Is somebody spying on me, or is this just crazy coincidence?

I’ve recently watched or come across Karuizawa Syndrome (1985), Heart Cocktail (1986), Maryu Senki (1987), and Nana Toshi Monogatari ~Hokkyokukai Sensen~ (1994). Are good copies of those going to unexpected surface soon also?

NHK Announces Elementhunters Anime

NHK Announces Elementhunters Anime

The NHK television network has launched a website revelaing the development of a Japanese/Korean co-produced sci-fi educational anime television series Elementhunters. The series will air on the NHK Educational network and aim to entertain viewers while teaching them about chemical elements. The series will premiere in July.

The Elementhunters concept was created two years ago by .hack//SIGN and Ghost in the Shell movie screenwriter Kazunori Ito. Yoshiaki Okumura (Antique Bakery) and Han-Pyo Hong will direct.

Korean and Japanese anime co-productions are infrequent, but nothing new, as anime titles including Maple Story, Animal Yokocho, and Geisters prove.

Viewers that turn their nose at “educational” anime probably shouldn’t worry, as typical “educational” adventure anime like Omoikkiri Kagaku Adventure Sounanda and Gene Diver, and shows broadcast on the NHK Educational channel, such as Telepathy Shoujo Ran, aren’t didactic about their educational content.
