FUNimation Cuts More Staff
Anime News Network has confirmed that FUNimation laid off at least two employees, including chief operating officer, Brian Burke, yesterday. According to an official company statement, this week’s terminations conclude FUNimation’s process of corporate re-structuring in response to “the current economic climate.” FUNimation cut about 10% of its staff in July 2007.
According to FUNimation, the staff reductions will not impact the company’s continued anime acquisition and production.
You know the anime industry is facing tough times when even America’s most successful distributor is forced to make staff cuts.

This is why even Funimation is doomed. They’re all screwed, but Funimation is more because of the fact that their parent is not going to survive much longer.
This is not long after a statement in which Funi’s parent, Navarre (which has already been bankrupt once, about a decade ago), said that cuts across the board were needed, on top of terminating their BCI division.
R1 is doomed, and R2 Japan is not far behind.
I just want one more opportunity to say goodbye to the people behind the talent which I see there when this happens.
