ADV Discontinues Additional Titles

ADV Films has informed us that its domestic DVD releases of Best Student Council, Five Centimeters Per Second, Innocent Venus, and Robotech have been discontinued. ADV has not provided an explanation for why the titles have been withdrawn from circulation. These four titles were not included in the recent transition of anime properties from ADV Films to FUNimation.

Ironically, the announcement that Five Centimeters Per Second is no longer available from ADV Films comes exactly four months, to the day, after the film’s American DVD debut.

Like Grandma lectured, “If you’ve got nothing good to say, don’t say anything.”

Is this announcement just another harbinger for the death knell of ADV in general? Both their anime and their manga divisions are hemorrhaging titles like crazy.

In addition to all of the other recent ADV announcements, this can’t bode well.
