Japanese website My Voice has published the results of its June 1-5 web poll. 14,060 poll participants answered questions about their anime viewing preferences.

Although it’s presently just an announcement image, the official website for the upcoming Titania “legendary space opera” anime television series is now online.
The anime will be based on the sci-fi novel series by Legend of the Galactic Heroes creator Yoshiki Tanaka.

Japanese animation studio Gonzo has announced plans to distribute its upcoming Strike Witches anime series internationally via the YouTube and Crunchyroll websites. The fantasy action television series, based on a 2007 OVA which was itself based on original concepts by artist Humikane Shimada, will premier on Japanese television on July 3.
While Gonzo currently distributes its Blassreiter and Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk anime series on BOST TV, YouTube, and Crunchyroll, no mention has been made of Strike Witches being distributed online by BOST TV.

The recently broadcast final episode of the Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk anime television series included an announcement that a sequel series titled “The Tower of Druaga: The Sword of Uruk” will debut next year.
The official Japanese homepage for the 13 episode Vampire Knight anime television series has announced that a second series will debut in October.

Actress and singer Miyuki Kanbe passed away on June 18th at a Kawasaki City hospital following a sudden heart failure. She was 24. Kanbe had been in poor health since February 2007.
Notable performances in her career included playing protagonist Sailor Moon in Sailor Moon stage musical productions from 2000 to 2001; Kyoko Kakei in the 2003 motion picture Battle Royale II: Requiem; Hinaka Tachibana in the Kamen Rider Hibiki television series; and singing the first two opening theme songs for the 2003 anime television series Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch.

The official homepage for the Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel multimedia franchise now hosts a new 30 second trailer for the upcoming Twin Angel anime OVA series. The first of two episodes is scheduled for Japanese release on August 8th.

Japanese genre news site Hobby Channel has confirmed the planned production of an anime television series adaptation of Yoshiki Nakamura’s shoujo manga series Skip Beat! The anime will be produced by studio Hal Film Maker (Princess Tutu, Pretear, Oban Star Racers) under the direction of Kiyoko Sayama (Vampire Knight, Princess Tutu).
The English language translation of the Skip Beat! manga series is produced and distributed by Viz Media.

The Japanese Moon Phase Diary website reports that Bessatsu Young Magazine has announced plans for an anime adaptation of Ditama Bow’s 2007 romantic incest comedy manga series KissxSis. The KissxSis story revolves around high school boy Keita, whose two step-sisters make no secret of their intense love for him.

Big Tent Entertainment, the American brand manager for Japanese television network’s mascot character Domo-kun, has announced that a series of 20 original Domo animated shorts will premier online beginning Friday, June 20, on Veoh’s DomoNation online video channel. Veoh currently hosts 18 of Domo’s 400 original Japanese animated TV spots. The 20 new shorts will be released over a five week span.

A live action feature film adaptation of Akira Saso’s 2004 manga series Kodomo no Kodomo (Child of a Child) is scheduled to premier in Japanese theatrical release in September. Kodomo no Kodomo is the story of an 11 year old Japanese girl that becomes pregnant after accidentally “going too far” with a childhood boy friend. The film’s official website hosts a teaser trailer.

The interconnection of Japanese publishers Shogakukan and Shueisha continues as Shueisha has formally invested in Shogakukan’s 41 year old licensing and merchandising division ShoPro. As a result of the partnership, ShoPro will henceforth be named “Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions.” The expanded interest will allow Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions greater access to Shueisha owned manga and anime properties, generating more flexibility and timeliness in providing international licensing arrangements.
Shueisha became a co-owner of Shogakukan’s American subsidiary, Viz Media, in 2002.

Bandai of Japan has announced plans to develop a multimedia franchise titled “Battle Spirits.” The Battle Spirits collectable card game, described as a “new generation of trading card game” that’s been in development at Bandai for three years, will debut on September 13th. Similar to Yu-Gi-Oh, Battle Spirits will involve player characters controlling supernatural animals and monsters in battle.
A manga story based on the Battle Spirits card game will premier on July 26 in Kerokero Ace Magazine, a children’s manga magazine published by Kadokawa Shoten.
Sunrise Studios is reportedly developing an anime television series based on the card game. The anime will debut later this year.
