Question:
Since the Gundam 0079 series is so popular, is there any chance that the series will be re-released on either DVD or Blue Ray with original Japanese language with english subtitles? If yes, is there any possibility that the series will include episode 15 in the rerelease?

American TV Broadcast of Gurren Lagann Scheduled

The Sci Fi Channel has scheduled the American television debut of the highly anticipated Gurren Lagann anime series for Monday, July 28th. The first two episodes will air consecutively beginning at 11pm (ET, PT).

Before viewers get too excited over this announcement they should be aware that Bandai Entertainment has not confirmed this broadcast, and there’s been some speculation that the broadcast schedule listed by the Sci Fi Channel cannot possibly fit into the broadcast time allotted. So this TV premier should be considered highly tentative.

Please Explain the Tower of Druaga Opening Animation

Question:
Can you please explain the opening credit sequence of Tower of Druaga? I love the series so far, but I really don’t see the connection between the modern setting of the opening and the fantasy setting of the actual series.

Race to Get Oban Star Racers

It’s lamentable that the 2006 American television broadcast of Sav! the World Productions and Hal Film Maker’s 26 episode Oban Star Racers animated series earned the respect of only a small cult following rather than the significant success and popularity it deserves. Now, hopefully, the release of the complete series on a pair of admirably crafted American DVD sets will bring more attention to this excellent show.

FUNimation Announces New Titles

FUNimation has formally revealed its acquisition of translation and distribution rights to the 13 episode 2006 sci-fi mecha action anime television series Soukou no Strain, and Shigurui, the adult oriented 12 episode samurai action/drama television series broadcast in Japan last year.

Strain, animated by Studio Fantasia (Stratos 4, Crystal Blaze), will be released domestically in March 2009 as a complete series set under the title “Strain: Strategic Armored Infantry.”

Details regarding the American DVD release of Madhouse’s gruesome and explicit samurai drama, to be titled, “Shigurui: Death Frenzy” for its American release, will be forthcoming.

Wow! Shigurui is a surprising license for FUNimation because it will be their most adult oriented title by a long margin. Baki the Grappler is pretty brutal, but it’s got nothing on the gory violence, explicit sexuality, and grim tone of Shigurui.

Here is Greenwood TV Drama Announced

An official Japanese website has launched to announce a July debut of a live action television series adaptation of Yukie Nasu’s 1987 shoujo manga Here is Greenwood (Koko wa Greenwood). The manga was adapted into a respected six episode anime OVA series in 1991.

I’m somewhat surprised to see this 20 year old manga getting revived, but it does seem like ideal source material for a live action TV drama series.
