New School Rumble Anime Announced

Kodansha’s official Japanese School Rumble website has announced that the upcoming Japanese School Rumble manga volumes 21 & 22 will be released in limited edition versions including bonus DVDs. Each DVD will contain one new School Rumble Third Year OVA.

Blood+ to Receive Increased Exposure

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed plans to promote the upcoming domestic DVD release of the Blood+ anime television series by including the anime series’ first episode as a bonus feature on the DVD release of hit live action vampire movie 30 Days of Night, and on the DVD edition of the live action horror film Loch Ness Terror, due out on DVD on April 15th. The Blood+ anime series will debut on American DVD on March 4th.

Ask John: How Often is Japanese Live Action Released in the US?

Question:
How often do we get Japanese live action shows in the US? How often will this happen? I know we will be seeing Lovely Complex live action coming, but what about Sailor Moon? Nana? Will companies ever bring these in the United States? It seems most manga/anime are turning live action. I’m just wondering what’s the chance of seeing these titles brought here.

The Japanese Newtype Magazine homepage now hosts a streaming Flash trailer for the “Wagaya no Revolution” promotional DVD that advertises the upcoming Wagaya no Oinarisama anime television series. The promotional video will be accessible until the 29th. The television series is scheduled to premier in April.

ToHeart 2ad Opening Animation Online

Animate.tv now hosts the opening animation sequence of the upcoming ToHeart 2ad anime OVA series for streaming narrowband and broadband connections. The first ToHeart 2ad OVA is scheduled to go on sale in Japan on March 26.

ToHeart 2ad will be the fifth ToHeart anime series, and the third anime series based on the ToHeart 2 computer game.

Third Ikkitousen Anime Series Announced

The official Japanese Ikkitousen homepage has formally announced plans for a third anime series titled “Ikkitousen: Great Guardians.” The April issue of Comic Gum Magazine reports that the new series will be an anime original story including new, original characters.

Natsume Yujin-Cho Anime Announced

The April issue of Hakusensha’s shoujo manga magazine LaLa has formally announced that Yuki Midorikawa’s ghost-story manga series Natsume Yujin-Cho (Natsume’s Book of Friends) will be adapted into a TV anime.

“The story revolves around Natsume, a boy who has been able to see ghosts since he was little. Unfortunately, humans shun him, and there is not much fondness between him and ghosts either. One day, he inherits a Yujin-Cho (“Book of Friends”) from his grandmother. The book is actually full of contracts that his grandmother made to trap ghosts. As one ghost after another shows up, Natsume tries to release or help them Eeven while many of them seek vengeance on him.”

Net Ghost PIPOPA Anime Announced

Japanese television network TV Tokyo has opened an official homepage announcing the April 6th premier of the Net Ghost PIPOPA anime television series.

“The series stars Yuta Akigawa, an elementary school boy who lives in a city run entirely by computers. One day, he opens a phone email message that sucks him inside his mobile phone and into “net space.” There he meets three mysterious creatures named Pit, Pot, Pat — PiPoPa for short. The four go on adventures between both the human world and the net world.”

Detective Conan Movie 12 Trailers Online

The official Japanese website for the 2008 Detective Conan motion picture, “Detective Conan: Full Score of Fear” (Meitantei Conan: Senritsu no Full Score) now hosts two 30 second teaser trailers and a full theatrical trailer. The movie is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on April 19th.

The Japanese Sports Hochi newspaper reports that the new film will feature the previously unreleased single “Tsubasa wo Hirogete,” performed by the late vocalist ZARD (Izumi Sakai), as its theme song.
