Muteki Kanban Musume Anime Announced

Reportedly during the recent Tokyo Anime Fair, Telecom Studio formally announced plans to produce an anime TV series adaptation of Jun Sadogawa’s manga ” Muteki Kanban Musume,” released in America by AD Vision under the title “Noodle Fighter Miki.”

The series will be directed by Futakoi director Tomizawa Nobuo, written by Machida Takako, and will feature character design by Nakaji Keiko.

Geneon Announcements from Sakuracon

At this past weekend’s Sakuracon convention, Geneon announced its acquisition of translation rights to the Barefoot Gen anime (previously released in America by Streamline, then Image Entertainment), and the 2004 live action Japanese romance movie Kagen no Tsuki ~ Last Quarter.

Geneon also has plans to release a Yoko Ishida music DVD featuring video of her North American Anime Fusion mall performance tour from last year.

Composer Hiroshi Miyagawa Has Died

Composer Hiroshi Miyagawa, best known to anime fans for his score for Space Battleship Yamato, passed away last Tuesday. He was 75.

Live Action Moe Coming to America

The Mainichi News has reported on an Akihabara press conference last week that announced the production of “MOE-KYUN@MOVIE,” a three live action episode series scheduled for DVD and online distribution, and planned for release in America. The American release may be handled by Central Park Media since CPM president John O’Donnell participated in the press conference.

The drama entails 3 episodes: 1) An otaku college student picks up a stray cat, only to find out that it has the ability to turn into a human girl with cat ears! 2) A romance between a man preparing for his judicial examinations and his maid, and 3) A man purchases a figure that has the magical ability to turn into a real girl.

The first 80 minute long film will hit Japanese DVD on June 21st.

Free Advent Children Theatrical Screening Scheduled

Sony has announced that a free public theatrical screening of the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children motion picture will be held at the Los Angeles Cinerama Dome on Sunset Boulevard at 7 PM on April 3rd. Tickets will be distributed at the theater beginning at noon the day of the show.

Madhouse Announces New Feature

At the recent Tokyo Anime Fair, Madhouse Studios revealed production of “Red Line,” an automobile racing anime movie to be directed by Takeshi Koike (who directed the “World Record” racing segment of The Animatrix), from a concept and script by Katsuhito Ishii (who directed the anime serial Trava: Fist Planet).

New Matsumoto Anime Planned

Bandai Visual has pre-opened a website for a new OVA from Go Nagai’s Dynamic Planning. The new anime title literally translates as “Onikoushi Enma” (”Demon Prince Enma”).

The official homepage for the Kamisama Kazoku Playstation 2 game is now open. The Kamisama Kazoku (”God Family”) anime TV series is scheduled to premier on May 18th.

Media Works has announced a Playstation 2 game based on Strawberry Panic. The Strawberry Panic anime TV series is scheduled to premier on April 3rd.

Toei Announces New Anime Movies

During a press conference held at the current Tokyo Anime Fair, Toei Animation announced plans for theatrical anime movie adaptations of Pretty Cure Splash Star, Clannad, and Rose of Versailles.

Toei also revealed new character costumes for the work-in-progress Demashita! Power Puff Girls Z anime television series, announced production of animated series “Kabooki” and “Doskoi” specifically for overseas markets, and promoted the upcoming Kamisama Kaizoku television series, which is scheduled to premier in May.
