American Release of Advent Children Delayed

Electronic Gaming Monthly Magazine has reported that the American release of the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie has been delayed from September 13th until this winter. The movie will still be released in Japan on September 13th.

The American release of the movie will be available in UMD format and special edition double disc DVD format. Unfortunately, the American 2-disc DVD set will include trailers, behind-the-scenes clips and other features, but will not include the “Last Order: Final Fantasy VII” anime OAV included in the Japanese limited edition DVD set.

Cowboy Bebop American Sales Break One Million

Bandai Entertainment has announced that American home video sales of the Cowboy Bebop, series including VHS and DVD, have now topped one million units sold since its American debut 7 years ago.

The milestone coincides with the September 13th release of Cowboy Bebop Remix DVD volume 1, an American DVD re-release of the Cowboy Bebop TV series that features remastered 5.1 audio and a wealth of DVD supplementary materials including commentary tracks, interviews, and more.

Adult Swim Schedules Anime Second Seasons

Adult Swim has announced that Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig will premier on the network at 11 PM on November 19th. Also on November 19th, Adult Swim will begin airing new episodes of Samurai Champloo.

Deko Boko Friends to Air on Canadian TV

Viz has announced that Canada’s Treehouse TV network will air 61 episodes of the Deko Boko Friends anime series beginning next month. The series consists of 30 second animated shorts targeted at pre-school age children, teaching “lasting life lessons of acceptance and difference.”

Question:
I just recently read the news post about ADV’s plans for Gakkou no Kaiden. I’m wondering… what the heck are they thinking? I thought that ADV was getting better about doing such things to their titles, but now not it appears that not only are they changing it, but bosting about the changes. Do you have any idea why they would do this? And what was the original story suppose to be like?

Media Blasters Announcements from Otakon

At this past weekend’s Otakon convention Media Blasters announced plans to begin localizing and distributing computer and Game Boy games in the future. Media Blasters’ first game titles will probably be related to titles they distribute on DVD.

Media Blasters CEO John Sirabella stated at the convention that, “He didn’t foresee anymore episodes of [Twelve Kingdoms] being made.” There was also no news on plans for more Berserk anime.

Media Blasters confirmed having distribution rights to the four most recent live action Kekko Kamen movies, but has encountered difficulties in trying to license distribution rights to live action Japanese television series including GTO.

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora Anime Announced

Japan’s Comic Gao Magazine has announced that the new manga series “Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora,” by B.Tarou, will be adapted into an anime television series.

New Manga Based Movie Trailer Available

The Skip City International Digital Film Festival website now hosts a streaming Windows Media trailer for “Angel,” a new live-action adaptation of Erika Sakurazawa’s manga “Tenshi.” The movie will be released to Japanese theaters sometime next year.

Seven Seas Launches Its First Flash Animation

Publisher Seven Seas now hosts its first Flash “anime” based on its manga-style comic “No Man’s Land.” Scripted by series creator Jason DeAngelis with art by Flash animator Jonathan Talas with music by Japanese composer Keiei Kubota, the pilot episode of No Man’s Land: The Flash Anime acts as a side-story to the No Man’s Land comic.

Appleseed Online RPG Announced

G4 to Air Cromartie High School

The G4 television network has announced plans to broadcast the Cromartie High anime television series on its “Barbed Wire Biscuit” programing block, along with previously announced plans to air RahXehpon and Colorful. RahXephon will premier on Friday, September 2 at midnight ET. Colorful and Cromartie High will debut in December.
