American Yu-Gi-Oh Movie to Air on Japanese Television

TV Tokyo has announced that the second Yu-Gi-Oh movie, never before released in Japan, will air on Japanese television at 8 AM on Sunday, January 2nd. TV Tokyo’s announcement does not state whether the film will air with its original English language dialogue or if it will have a Japanese language dub.

Updates on Toei DVDs

Pioneer’s latest retailer solicitation confirms that the domestic DVD releases of Air Master and Slam Dunk will go on sale March 15, 2005. The previously reported February 8, 2005 release date is actually the retail order cut-off date, not street date.

ICv2 News has reported that the DVD retail prices will be $29.98 each. Anime on DVD has reported that DVDs will retail at $24.95 each. The official Geneon solicitation reports that the DVDs will retail at $24.98 each.

New Anime TV Series Websites Opened

Trinet Entertainment has opened its official website for the upcoming Izumo anime TV series, based on an adults-only PC game and anime series. The Izumo TV series will premier in April 2005.

Trinet Entertainment has also opened its official website for the upcoming anime TV series Koi Koi 7, also scheduled to debut in April 2005.

The official series site for the Magical Canan anime TV series, which is also based on an adult PC game and anime series, is now open.

And Toei has opened its series site for the upcoming Xenosaga the Animation anime TV series. The Xenosaga anime will premier on January 5, 2005.

DVD Vision Japan Publishes its 2004 Picks

DVD Vision Japan has published its two page long “Visions of 2004” article detailing its picks for best of the anime industry in 2004.

New Planetes & Survive Specials Scheduled

Japanese television network NHK has reported that new TV specials for Planetes and Mujin Wakusei Survive (Uninhabited Planet Survive) will air respectively on December 31, 2004 and January 2, 2005. The regular Planetes and Survive television series both concluded earlier this year.

Konami Developing Gantz Game

Media Blasters Acquires Blame Anime

Media Blasters president John Sirabella announced the acquisition of translation rights to the Blame! anime on the Anime on DVD Forum. The 6 mini-episode long Blame! anime based on the manga by Tsutomu Nihei was originally broadcast online, then released on very limited edition Japanese DVD.

Sirabella also seemingly clarified that the Media Blasters acquisition of the Iczer-One anime will be the original individual OAVs rather than the combined, slightly extended movie version.

Appleseed Theatrical Release Cities Revealed

The official American Appleseed movie website has revealed that the film will be screened theatrically in California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, New York, and Pennsylvania. The list of exact theaters that will screen the film is available one the official site in the “Theaters” section.

Media Blasters Acquires Iczer-One

Media Blasters has announced that the 3 episode Iczer-One OAV series will be released on a single $19.95 DVD on April 12, 2005 under the American title “Iczer.” It’s not clear if the Media Blasters DVD will contain the original 3 separate OAV episodes or the extended combined movie edition. The Iczer-One OAV series was previously released on American VHS by US Renditions.

Divergence Eve Release Scheduled
