Tech TV Does Have Last Exile

Contradicting statements made by a Tech TV representative on the Tech TV message boards which denied plans to broadcast Last Exile on the channel, Tech TV has now published an official confirmation scheduling the broadcast premier of Last Exile for the Anime Unleashed program on Monday, March 8th.

The Network will broadcast episodes 1-12, two episodes per night Monday through Saturday from 10 -11 pm Eastern Time. On Sunday, March 14th, beginning at 4 PM there will be a Last Exile marathon of episodes 1-12 and the not yet available on American home video episode 13.

Last Exile episodes 14-26 will air on Tech TV sometime in the future after Bandai has completed English language adaptation on them.

Digital Manga to Release Worst

Digital Manga has announced its acquisition of translation rights to Takahashi Hiroshi’s best selling manga series “Worst.” The drama about teenage boys fighting their way through high school to earn respect is currently the third best selling manga in Japan.

The first English translated book will clock in at 208 pages and retail at $12.95 beginning this July.

Onimusha 3 Confirmed for American Release

IGN has confirmed that Onimusha 3, due out in Japan next month, will be released in America this May. The all-star cast of the samurai action game features co-stars Takeshi Kaneshiro & Jean Reno, action choreography by Donnie Yen, and a 7 minute long opening movie directed by Takashi Yamazaki (Returner).

The Magic Box has published three pages of new screenshots of the upcoming game.

New Inuyasha Game Screenshots

The Magic Box has published two pages of screenshots from the upcoming Japanese Inuyasha: Juso no Kamen (”Cursed Mask”) RPG for the Playstation 2. The game will be released in Japan on March 18th. Bandai has announced plans to release an unspecified Inuyasha game for the American PS2 later this year.

Last Exile Not Licensed for TV Broadcast

Contrary to reports from Anime News Network, Galaxy Anime, ICv2 News and Toon Zone reiterated by AnimeNation, an official representative of Tech TV has stated that Tech TV has not acquired broadcast rights to Last Exile, and contrary to reports elsewhere, Last Exile will not air on Tech TV’s Anime Unleashed program this March.

New Anime Adaptations Announced

Japanese fan site Moon Phase has reported that Tamami Momose’s manga serial Sensei no Ojikan will be adapted into anime later this year. Momose’s romantic comedy manga Momoiro Sisters was turned into an anime TV series in 1998.

Moon Phase also reports that Kids’ Station & Bandai Visual are developing an anime TV series adaptation of Panda-Z for release later this year.

AD Vision Schedules New Title

AD Vision has announced that the first DVD volume of the All-Purpose Cultural Cat-Girl Nuku Nuku TV series will be available across America on March 2nd. The $29.98 DVD will contain the first 4 of 14 TV episodes.

AD Vision has also announced that the first volume of the Louie the Rune Soldier manga will be avaiable in American bookstores on March 23rd.

New Appleseed & Casshern Trailers Available

Japan’s Quicktime homepage now hosts a new trailer for the upcoming full digital animation Appleseed movie (direct download link).

The extended teaser trailer for the live action Casshern movie, an adaptation of the Shinzo Ningen Casshern anime TV series, is now also available in a higher resolution Quicktime version.

Astro Boy Games Coming to America

Only three days remain before AnimeNEXT’s pre-registration rates increase by $10. The Secaucus, NJ anime convention has also announced two new musical guests. In addition to Peelander-Z, the groups Otaku Duet and The Spunks will also perform at the convention.

Ask John: What are the Significane of a Sword, Mirror and Jewel?

Question:
What is the significance of having these three objects together: a sword, a circular mirror, and an orb? I’ve seen these objects in Sailor Moon and Yu Yu Hakusho. Sailor Uranus had the sword, Sailor Neptune the circular mirror, and Sailor Pluto the orb on the top of her staff. In Yu Yu Hakusho, Hiei had the sword, Kurama the circular mirror, and Gouki had the orb. Maybe it’s just me, but I was just wondering if there was any kind of story behind this? Maybe not, since the objects did possess different powers in the two anime shows.
